About Us
Pursue
The company was founded in 1961 by Thomas Brunner I. to manufacture and distribute hand cleaning pastes for the manufacturing industry. Even then, hand cleaning pastes were available, but many were harsh on the skin. Companies were looking for skin-friendly alternatives. By using new raw materials, they succeeded in producing a hand cleaning paste with unprecedented skin compatibility. The foundation for the company and its philosophy was laid.
In 1977, with the entry of Thomas Brunner II, the company was renamed Thomas Brunner Hygiene GmbH, which still exists today.
The syNeo® Cosmetics division, established in 1995 , was created through the involvement of the current managing director, Thomas Brunner III, in collaboration with a pharmacist. He developed an effective, but not very skin-friendly, antiperspirant.
Thomas Brunner III suffered from excessive sweating since his youth. Many antiperspirants caused him skin irritation or were not as effective as he had hoped. Therefore, it made sense to focus on further developing antiperspirants to significantly improve their skin compatibility without compromising their effectiveness.
All antiperspirants are based on aluminum salts. However, a good antiperspirant isn't simply defined by a higher concentration of aluminum salts. Overdosing can severely irritate the skin, potentially rendering it ineffective and making long-term use impossible.
The key is a carefully balanced combination of high-quality ingredients that protect the skin from irritation and ideally provide additional skincare benefits.
Two years of development resulted in an effective yet skin-friendly antiperspirant. This is the origin of the current syNeo® antiperspirant range.
In the following years, our development focused on further variations to cover the entire spectrum of different types of unwanted perspiration. Customers can now find the right syNeo® product for almost every area of the body.
The syNeo® Cosmetics business unit has been continuously expanding ever since. Outside of Germany, we are represented by independently operating sales partners in the following countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Poland, Ukraine, India, the USA, and China.
philosophy
Only absolutely flawless quality of all ingredients and forward-thinking formulations guarantee sustainably high-quality products, maximum skin compatibility and maximum possible effectiveness.
All syNeo products are therefore developed in-house by our laboratories. From mixing the raw materials to filling, packaging, and shipping, the entire production process takes place in-house. This is the only way to ensure the highest level of control and comprehensive quality assurance. Furthermore, ongoing tests regarding efficacy and skin compatibility are conducted in cooperation with the renowned Dermatest® Institute .
We continuously monitor discussions in the trade press regarding ingredients permitted in cosmetic products. In cases where the safety of a substance is credibly and comprehensibly questioned by the majority of institutions and researchers worldwide, we do not wait until the substance is banned, but rather refrain from using it beforehand.
For example, the permitted bactericide "triclosan" has come under suspicion of creating resistance in bacteria, with the consequence that antibiotics may no longer be as effective. Therefore, we stopped using this substance back in 2012.
Environmental protection
Our new administration and production building and warehouse, completed in 2024, incorporate many current insights regarding energy saving, the use of renewable energies, and CO2 reduction . Both the construction work and the operational and office equipment were included in a holistic assessment to achieve the KfW 55 standard .
Since February 2011, we have been sourcing green electricity. Our production is thus powered 100% by renewable energy . All machines were selected for their low energy consumption. Electrical appliances and machines are disconnected from the grid overnight, so that no electricity is consumed in standby mode.
We source the raw materials and packaging materials required for production, wherever possible, from Germany or neighboring European countries. This avoids unnecessarily long transport routes.
Since we do not process any toxic substances, raw material bulk packaging and reusable deposit containers can be reused multiple times. Small containers are made of single-material plastics or metal and can be easily recycled.
